Würfel liegen auf Holztisch

Liar's Dice

What you need:

  • at least 2 players

  • 2 dice

  • Pen and paper to write down the score

Game instructions:

How to play

The game is played with two dice, a dice cup and a coaster. The dice are rolled in turn. The person rolling the dice can tilt the dice cup and look at their roll face down. He then announces the value of the throw - he can lie freely if he wants to.

If he has not started the round, the value announced must be higher than that of the previous player. He then passes the dice covered by the cup to the next player.

This player now has a choice:

  • If he believes the previous player, then he must hope to trump his result and rolls the dice without checking the true value of the dice. Regardless of what he rolls, the value he announces for the next player must be higher than the last player announced - if necessary, he must lie.

  • However, if he does not believe him, i.e. accuses the previous player of lying, the cup is raised for all to see. If the announced value was higher than the real value of the dice, the previous and therefore lying player is penalised; however, if the announced value was less than or equal to the real value of the dice, he himself is penalised - with a point deduction.

End of the round

The round ends when one player accuses the previous player of lying or when it is no longer possible to increase the value. The new round begins with the winner of the last round.

Counting points

At the start of the game, each player receives an account of 10 points. After each round, one point is deducted from the loser's account. In the end, the winner is the one who still has points in their account.

Have fun playing!
