Hui: UI and UX

UI and UX are two fields of work that specialize in optimizing the use of products.
From the outside, they often overlap, but in reality they are very different - even if they are closely intertwined - both are fundamental to good design and usability, but require very different approaches and skills.

  • User Experience - UX

UX design is not just about websites and apps, but is also used for other products. User experience design is the process in which teams create products and processes that provide users with pleasant and user-friendly experiences.
But there is no one perfect user experience, because the best one is the one that works for the specific target group and/or context.
UX design focuses entirely on the customer journey - it develops website wireframes (the structure of a website), develops prototypes, creates user personas and researches them.
The fundamental goal of UX design is therefore the simplest, most straightforward and smoothest application of a product. UX design focuses on the design of user experiences and usability.

Imagine the whole thing simplified like a house:
UX builds the basic structure and function, UI takes care of the appealing interior design.

  • User interface - UI

UI design, on the other hand, deals with the aesthetics - the visual aspects.
The user interface design is the connection between the user and the product, where both interact. So buttons, menu bars, icons, but also colors and fonts are all part of UI design. It takes care of the look and feel of the product by translating the website wireframes and prototypes developed in the UX phase into something appealing and responsive.
To accomplish this mission, UI designers need to be up to date with the latest design trends, stick to the brand identity - without sacrificing usability - and be able to communicate the chosen style.

As relatively new fields of work, UX and UI design are constantly evolving.
It is a very broad field in which you can find specialists from any area. UI designers are very likely to work in a niche or specialization in which they are particularly strong. This is because there are big differences between the various UI design fields. The fields of work range from designs for apps, games, to dashboards and even tables.

As a UX and UI designer, you always have to be up to date with the latest trends and techniques. Last year, for example, there was a strong tendency towards customized illustrations, preferably animated. Complex, animated 3D UIs are gaining more and more attention and it will certainly be interesting to see in which directions UI and UX will develop in the coming years.
